I have to give it up to TheMashup.net for bringing Sacramento another show to look forward to. This Friday one of my favorite female emcees will be visiting Sol Collective in promotion of her new album Raw Gems. Hopie Spitshard has been a favorite of mine for quite sometime. Hailing from San Francisco this little lady has grabbed a lot of people’s attention with her style, hard-hitting beats, great stories and her ever so close MC Lyte flow.
Her name is spoken in many a household in the bay area while pushing her way to the top of SF’s most wanted performers. This year she has been on many stages creating a buzz, hosting this year’s Fader Fest as well as performing, making imprints on all of our musical souls.
Hopie took some time off to hit the books and receive her doctorate. Upon her coming back to the music game this all around talented emcee has yet again hit us with an album that takes us back to the 90’s era with collaborations with some of the underground greats. Working with artists like Bambu, DonWill of Tanya Morgan, Del the Funky Homosapien as well as another dope female emcee making a path of her own in the bay area; Rocky Rivera.
Gracing many covers of magazines with her eclectic fashion sense gained her the chance to work with Adapt clothing with a six series T-shirt line based around her style. Self trained in music composition, a seasoned violin, drum and guitar player this Filipina is sure to capture what it means for a woman to break through the glass ceiling.
Sacramento come through and witness this extraordinary artist, Hopie Spitshard with performances by Illecism and Chuuwee hosted by DJ Nocturnal and TT Kodac Visuals on the tables.
